in Your humble opinion

A few conversations with friends, a couple blog posts, and few angry Facebook statuses have led me to one.simple.question.

Who has a harder time getting over a break-up?

Yea, I know that Jasmine Sullivan talks about busting windows out you car, but I men seem to go OJ (wait he was acquitted) Scott Peterson and go crazy. Ok so maybe those are the extremes, but you get the idea.

So tell me, who do you think has the harder time dealing with a break-up? Men or Women? Why?

My thoughts:

I'd say men. Women take a lot to get to a point of being done with something and once they reach that point, they tend to have it all reconciled within them. No it doesn't mean that they won't have an adjustment period, and by no means does the go for ALL women, but I think women have the ability to get over it. I'm not sure why men feel like they can't live after a break-up. Enlighten me please.

Looks good...but not on me?

Have you ever just found the "right" shoe. I mean...it was great from the moment you looked it. It even looked comfortable. In fact, it's like everything that you've been looking for in a shoe. We'll maybe one of the stitches is off or its a display shoe and the last pair so it has a little wear on the bottom from people trying it on, but other than those little things that only you notice its pretty much IT. Then you put it on and....it's comfortable too. OHH a plus. A hot AND comfortable shoe, but then you look in the mirror and the FABULOUS shoe is somehow just -eh- on you. Not that the shoe itself isn't great, but you know, it just isn't what you imagined it would look like on you. Dare I say...you don't do the shoe justice? Sometimes you can see a shoe that is FAB on someone else or on a mannequin but when you put it on its just-blah. Not "boring" but just blah....

So do you buy it and hope it will grow on you...or leave it in the store for someone else to have a shot at fabulosity?

Guilty conscience

Don't you love when you or someone else makes a general statement and someone takes personal offense?

This is the source of many facebook fights, friendship battles, and relationship rifts. Seriously. But what I've come to realize is that when people take personal offense to a general statement, it's usually because they feel a little guilt something inside them that allows that statement to convict them. The question is....was this the first time you felt convicted about this thing or have you realized that you've been slacking on something and just decided to ignore it? Then what do you do about it? Are you man or woman enough to correct the wrong now that you feel convicted or do you keep rollin' on?

You're Still Here?

Do you ever wonder why people are still in your life? I suppose it's really a question for God, but I've found myself asking this question recently. I tend to reflect more on the question when I am going through a time of purging, but that hasn't been the case as of late. Its just been a general question. If you know me...you know that I have no issues with letting people go if they are serving no purpose in my life or have violated our relationship in some way without attempting reconciliation. Basically...iPurge when I have reason and I really focus on nurturing the relationships close to me.

But there are people who have come into my life at one point or another (maybe even for a brief time, initially) and they are still here for some reason. It's like neither time nor distance changes those (that) relationship and I find myself looking for the meaning in that.

Clearly I'm thinking of a specific person and a specific relationship if you think it's you, you're probably wrong but I think it can be generalized to lots of people in our lives. Perhaps its someone you met on vacation...or someone you knew (to some degree) in college? You've gone on with your own lives but there's something that brings you back to that person...Why are they still around?
